Thyroid Screening

The thyroid gland is located in the neck, under the area commonly referred to as the “Adam’s Apple.” Sometimes referred to as the master gland of the body, it controls how quickly your body uses energy, makes proteins and stabilizes the body’s hormone balance.

A thyroid screening allows us to see the thyroid gland and detect any changes in its tissue or size. The thyroid is essential in controlling the hormonal organs of the body. If left undetected, thyroid abnormalities may lead to metabolic dysfunction and many more impairments. This screening uses an ultrasound device that utilizes sound waves to view the size and shape of the thyroid. This produces an image that is used for your results. Based on this, we can recommend whether or not you are at risk and should visit your doctor.
